One of the most common questions I’m asked is, “How do I pick the right real estate agent?” Whenever I’m asked this question, there are three things that I point to.
1. Integrity. Do they have your best interests in mind at all times? You don’t want an agent who is salesy, pushy, or won’t listen to you. They should ask you questions about what’s important to you and find solutions based on that.
2. Competence. Do they have experience? You don’t need to hire someone who has been in the business for 30 years, but you should hire someone who has a solid track record and many satisfied clients. Ask them about their past sales and pay attention to their listing presentation and whether it’s really generic or not.

3. Responsiveness. We are a service-based business, so if your agent isn’t answering your calls or emails in a timely manner, that’s not a good sign. Can they show you homes quickly without having to reschedule again and again?
These are three of the most important things to pay attention to when hiring an agent. If they have all three qualities, there’s a good chance you will have a successful sale.
